ICFRE Becomes First Indian DOE for CDM

New Delhi – The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE)has become the first Designated Operational Entity (DOE) in India to be accredited by the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism to validate and certify functions in the sectoral scope of ‘Afforestation and Reforestation’ (A/R). The ICFRE is an apex body in the national forestry research system.

Carbon Markets in Africa Moving Forward

Nairobi – Africa has over 120 carbon market projects up and running or in the pipeline, in areas ranging from wind power to forestry schemes, a new assessment, published today shows.

However, in comparison to the rest of the world, the Continent is still lagging behind, with the potential for clean and green energy largely under-exploited. Meanwhile, the growth in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects under the Kyoto Protocol remains uneven.

Emerging Technologies in Environment Science Discussed During Conference at VRS & YRN College

VRS & YRN College, Chirala, Prakasam(Dist), Andhra Pradesh (India), had organized a two-day national conference on “Emerging Technologies in Environmental Science (EMERTEK 2010)” during 22nd and 23rd October under the joint sponsorship of University Grants Commission (SERO), Hyderabad, and Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), Hyderabad.

The essence of organizing this seminar, EMERTEK 2010, was to serve as a link between science, policy-practice and decision-making in the quest for synergetic sustainable technological solutions for environmental problems.

Action on World's Waste Can Help Combat Climate Change

Cancún, Mexico – The waste management sector is contributing 3-5 per cent of global man-made greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, equal to around the current emissions from international aviation and shipping, according to some estimates.

UN Under Pressure to Halt Gaming and Abuse of CDM

CDM Watch has confronted the United Nations with new evidence that alleged emissions reductions from HFC-23 destruction projects under the CDM offsetting mechanism are actually increasing global greenhouse gas emissions.
